#TakeAction – March 13, 2020
It’s been quite a week! Here is how you can #TakeAction today, March 13th:
🔶 Email Senators Murray and Cantwell to support the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (HR6201)
🔶 Guarantee access to legal counsel during detainments
🔶 Reach out to your Indivisible community if you need help
1) Action: Email Senators Murray and Cantwell at these websites to support the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (HR6201)
This bill hasn’t even passed the House yet, and the GOP senators are already working against it. We need to make sure it passes in the House and that the Senate is ready to pass it as soon as they receive it. There are literally lives on the line.
Maria Cantwell: www.cantwell.senate.gov/contact/email/form
Patty Murray: www.murray.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/contactme
2) Action: Support the Access to Counsel Act, H.R.5581
Call Congresswoman Schrier, ask her to cosponsor and vote for the Access to Counsel Act, H.R.5581. This legislation would ensure those held or detained while attempting to enter the United States are guaranteed access to legal counsel when they are detained.
This bill is sponsored by Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal (WA7) and has 50 cosponsors, but Congresswoman Schrier is not yet a cosponsor.
3) Action: Reach Out
These are trying times with the virus outbreak. If you need help with groceries, prescription pickups, childcare, dog walkers, or just want someone to talk to, your Indivisible family is here for you! We may not be able to provide what you need, but we can point you in the right direction. We are in this crisis together. Feel free to private message the Indivisible WA 8th District group on Facebook, or anyone else who has offered if you need anything.
