In election years like this one, Labor Day marks the traditional start of the general election season.
While we hope you’re enjoying a relaxing holiday, we also hope you’ll be thinking about how you can make a difference in the critical weeks ahead. With only 57 days left until the November 3 general election, there’s no time to waste if we want to make sure that the next two years are markedly different from the past two.
With that in mind, we’re devoting this issue of our weekly Indivisible WA-8 Newsletter to resources you can use to make a difference, both nationally and locally.

Things You Can Do To Flip Congress
National Opportunities:
Indivisible Vashon has done extensive research on the prospects for our national elections to regain control of Congress. To regain Congress we need to protect progressive incumbents and flip some seats from red to blue. To dispel uncertainty and defeat the possibility of stolen elections we need impressive wins. Make this happen by supporting one or more of the competitive Congressional candidates here.
Field Team 6 offers a wide variety of volunteer opportunities.
Vote Riders is a national voting rights organization that helps people get the proper ID to vote. You can volunteer with them in many different ways.
Common Power has amazing canvassing opportunities if you really want to commit to helping in a very impactful way in a different state. Their 101 trainings give you a great overview to help you decide if you want to volunteer in this way. Check it out here.

Phonebanking:
Indivisible National offers phonebank training videos and other phonebanking resources here, and all of their phonebanks come with the first 30 minutes of training, so it’s easy for beginners to get involved.

Postcarding:
Local postcarding groups meet weekly and provide the materials via donations from participants. They will be writing for State Supreme Court candidates that share our values very soon! Postcards4WA has officially launched supporting two important candidates for the state House of Representatives so far–Stacy Willoughby (LD12) and Renee Hernandez Greenfield (LD26). Sign up and join the over 80 writers already writing! All cards will be mailed Oct 13th. Can’t write yourself, but want to support other writers? Sign up and indicate how much you want to donate and someone will contact you.

It feels great to play an active part in making a positive difference, particularly when you’re doing it with other like-minded people. That’s one of the great benefits of a group like Indivisible WA-8. Acting together to reshape this great nation and our local communities is not just powerful. It’s inspirational–and fun!
