Fight the Big Brutal Bill!

It’s Time to be Very, Very Loud!
It’s on. Now. In the dark of the night Saturday to Sunday, Senate Republicans began the marathon process of delivering on Trump’s budget bill. Republicans want to rip food and health care away from families to pay for massive tax breaks for the Billionaire Boys Club. This isn’t a budget – it’s an attack.
- Democrats stalled progress by forcing the entire 940-page bill to be read out aloud, estimated to take 15 hours.
- Next, a “vote-a-rama” session begins. This lets Senate Dems propose unlimited new amendments that their colleagues must then vote on. Democrats can use this opportunity to postpone the final vote on the bill and force Republicans to vote on amendments and go on the record supporting politically damaging policies. Amendments will slow the process down and keep the pressure up.
- After vote-a-rama, Senators cast their votes. This final Senate vote on the bill is expected – possibly on Monday. Then, they’ll ask the House to vote on it as is – an even more harmful bill than House Republicans passed – so they can give Trump a “win” for the 4th of July.
The bill is so unpopular, they need the cover of night to pull off their high-stakes heist. It’s time to be very, very loud – today, Sunday, and on Monday. Shine the light on what Republicans are doing. Here’s how:
- Keep your calls to our Washington Senators going.
- Personally reach out to friends and family members today – especially those in red states – and ask them to call their U.S. Senators. Help flood their offices with calls, visits, and emails and oppose this shameful heist.

Make it easy for friends and family with Republican Senators
Sample Script Hello, my name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent from <city name. zip code>. I am outraged at this bill that slashes health care, takes food off people’s tables, and raises the debt limit by $5 trillion – with a T – so you can give massive tax breaks to billionaires like Elon Musk. Voters hate this bill. I will not pay the price so billionaires can cash in. Vote No. Do not sell us out.
Or, direct them to 5 calls. Enter their zip code and 5 calls will let them know who and how to call. https://5calls.org/

The opposition regularly uses racial fear as a tool to exploit economic realities and turn people against one another. The Race Class Narrative messaging and analysis help us fight back against these attacks to build solidarity across differences.
Anat Shenker-Osorio is one of Indivisible’s favorite guest speakers! She hosts the “Words to Win By” podcast and delivers information with smarts and snark. You don’t want to miss it. Hope to see you there!
