Hope is a Verb

Even when it’s cold and wet, IndivisibleWA8 shows up every Saturday to stand up for our democracy. And every week, there are new people joining us for the first time. This is happening all over the country. Between this and the dismal approval polls, there is reason for hope.
Rep. Pramila Jayapal often talks about hope, which she describes not as being passive or “pretending everything is fine,” but rather as a choice to act, even when things feel overwhelming. She emphasizes that taking action is necessary to keep moving forward.
That is exactly what drives Indivisible WA8 and all the work we do. And we want to thank everyone that has been part of our efforts whether this is the first newsletter you’re reading or you can’t remember when the newsletter wasn’t in your email box every Monday.
Here are some actions to can take this week to keep up the fight.

Join Our Indivisible March Gatherings
March 14th No Kings Workshop Day
Issaquah Community Center – 10 am-1 pm
Our March meeting is just two weeks before No Kings 3 so instead of our usual format, we’ll use this time to prep for No Kings 3 with DIY projects where you can make a noisemaker or sign, help with our large art projects, learn some songs with our new IndWA8 Resistance Singing leader, or make a democracy umbrella (bring your own umbrella). We’ll have some materials and supplies, but feel free to bring your own as well. More details to come!
IndivisiGather Potluck – Cultivating Community Through Hope
Beaver Lake Lodge – March 19th – 6-8pm
Join us as we gather together in an atmosphere of hope and community growth. This is an opportunity to take a moment away from the “work” with like-minded folks and celebrate what we work so hard to protect. We’ll have live entertainment, games and fun activities for all.
Bring a savory or sweet dish to share (bonus points for making something green) and please bring appropriate serving utensils for your dish.

Democrats in the Senate are continuing to hold the line in demanding reforms for CBP/ICE, but we need to keep up the pressure.
Let’s continue to call our Senators and Representative, thank them for what they have done so far to stop ICE, and ask them to continue holding the line in demanding that Republican’s join us in passing common sense reforms for ICE/CPB which will help move us one step closer to getting ICE out for good.

Let’s finish strong – Log into TAN today!
We are more than half way through the state legislative session, and there are lots of good bills our Washington Indivisible Legislative Action team is tracking including:
- HB 2165 – Prohibiting impersonation of police officers
- SB 5855 – Prohibiting Face Coverings for Law Enforcement Officers
- SB 6346 – Millionaire’s tax
- SB 6002 – Flock/ALPR Regulation
Plus others!
The graph above shows how many actions statewide Indivisibles have taken, and you can see our collective activity has fallen a bit in the last two weeks. Now is the time for us to weigh in on these bills, and let our legislators know we support the work they are doing to protect us from this tyrannical administration.

Celebrate Black history and leadership by examining how past organizers built resilient movements. Explore systemic power structures and inequities, and translate historical lessons into contemporary movement-building and leadership practices.
We are thrilled to announce our special guest, Barbara R. Arnwine, esq, president & founder of the Transformative Justice Coalition.
