Primary Results Are In

Saturday morning we held our monthly Community Meeting. Thank you to all those who showed up in person.

We heard from the founder of the new Issaquah Spotlight on why local news is so important, the mission behind the publication and more.

We also did a deep dive into Initiative 645, which would repeal the so-called “millionaire’s” tax. In addition to spelling out what the initiative does and does not do, the arguments for repeal were outlined and refuted with great arguments to share with friends and family when trying to convince them to vote No. Then we shared primary results (more below.)

All in all, it was an info packed meeting, if you were unable to attend in person or would like a refresher, check out the meeting slides here.

The November election is coming up fast (just 85 days away) so keep an eye out for more information, and actions you can take to be informed and how you can share that info with others.

Key Primary Results

While it will still take a couple of weeks for the state to finish counting ballots and certify the results, we now have a good indication of the results from Tuesday’s primary as well as where our support will be needed.

As many of you know, this group was established in an effort to turn a red CD8 to a blue one and so we’re happy to report that Kim Schrier won over 53% of the vote which signals that our district will, indeed, stay blue.

However, the race for Position 1 in LD5 is much closer than we want with Zach Hall at 44% and his opponent at 43%.

And, there is an interesting opportunity in LD12 with Stacy Willoughby running neck and neck with Brian Burnett. LD12 has never elected a Democrat before but, with the recent redistricting and boots on the ground, this is a flippable seat!

Watch for more information on how Indivisible WA8 will be organizing around these races as well as the “NO on the Initiatives in NOvember” soon.

You can find additional results in the community slides link above and on Washington State’s Secretary of State website

Suport Indivisible Washington’s 8th This Month

If you have more treasure than time, this is the time to donate to Indivisible WA8! Your gift will be matched dollar-for-dollar through the month of August.

This month, Indivisible National is matching donations made to local chapters like Indivisible WA8. While we run on volunteer energy, some things do cost money like the rent for our monthly community meeting space, operating our website, and organizing other events, rallies, and protests.

Thank you in advance for your generous donation!
