The Resistance is Growing

Take heart, our movement is growing! Our commitment to peaceful and non-violent resistance is working as more people are joining us across age groups, religious beliefs, and even political parties. The success of the No Kings movement cannot be denied. It is estimated that No Kings 3 was attended by about 8 million people across 3,300 events in 50 states and all world continents.
And, for the first time, Indivisible National conducted a survey of 3,000 voters after the event event, and it was filled with good news and among other things found:
- Almost half of No Kings 3 events were held in traditionally red states/areas including 127 in Texas, 121 in Florida, and 113 in Ohio.
- A third of respondents said they attended their first No Kings event
- Half of first timers were Gen Z (18-29 years old)
You can read more findings from the survey here.
Thank You to everyone who came out for our community meeting last Saturday.
The slide deck is mailed out to email subscribers. If you want to join the list, please sign up here.
We recapped No Kings 3, welcomed new folks, and talked about what’s next.
In addition, an update on Indivisible WA-8’s March 16th meeting with Congresswoman Kim Schrier was shared. Over the last 15 months, we believe our quarterly meetings have had a positive impact on her actions as we are seeing her vote more consistently with Indivisible constituent values and less stress on the need to be “bipartisanship” and work with Republican colleagues. That said, we will continue to meet with her staff regularly and keep her accountable for her actions and non-actions alike. A link to a much longer report was sent to email subscribers.
We hope this gives you optimism as we continue the fight together. Here are some more actions and events for you to consider this week
We have had so many new people joining Indivisible WA8 recently, and we want to get to know you! If you have joined us since the beginning of the year, we hope you will join us for one of our upcoming brunches to learn more about Indivisible WA8, Indivisible National, and how you can make a difference during these difficult times.
Please note that these gatherings are being held in private homes. The private registration links are available in your newsletter email or by contacting us at indivisiblewa8@gmail.com.
- Renton, April 18th
- Sammamish, May 2nd
- Issaquah, May 16th

If you live, work or shop in Issaquah, please email Mayor Mullet and the Issaquah City Council members to let them know you oppose the use of Flock cameras/ALPRs in Issaquah as well as the lack of transparency around the issue.
Background information: The city of Issaquah has received a federal grant to purchase and install Flock cameras. Flock sells their cloud-connected cameras to police departments and private customers across the nation. On the surface, this is a tool that can help local police catch criminals but these Automatic License Plate Readers(ALPR or LPR) allow police to do nationwide searches of the resulting database, and creates a dangerous nationwide mass-surveillance infrastructure.
The system is known as being used by ICE to help carry out the Trump Administration’s abusive removal program. In addition, surveillance from these cameras have proven to be used against LGBTQIA+ persons seeking gender affirming care and people seeking abortion care.
Please click below for more information to help you express your opposition to 1) Flock cameras in Issaquah and 2) the lack of transparency and public information about this issue.

Protect Trans Girls in Sports
The WIAA (Washington Interscholastic Activities Association) is meeting April 8th-17th to vote on a slew of amendments, one of which explicitly barring transgender girls from participating in sports. (Amendment ML/HS #21, Rule 18.16.0)
This vote is considered an “advisory vote,” because under current State law, trans girls are legally allowed to play sports. HOWEVER, this November, we will see an initiative on our ballots that would change State law to bar trans girls from playing sports by requiring ALL girls in WA schools to either pay for expensive genetic testing OR participate in invasive exams to prove their sex assigned at birth (IL26-638). This WIAA vote is an obvious step towards aligning with this ballot initiative.
Some background from their own “Gender Diverse Youth Sport Inclusivity Toolkit” – published on their website in 2024:
“The WIAA was the first state activities association to enact successful policy and practices regarding the equitable inclusion of K-12 transgender students in sports and other activities. WIAA’s groundbreaking policy and its subsequent inclusion in the official WIAA handbook in 2007, served* as a successful model for the rest of the nation.” As of 2025, the WIAA estimated there were only 5-10 transgender athletes participating in sports throughout the entire state.

Take Action by April 17th
There is a very niche, but important fight that is unfolding the week of April 13 when Congress is back in DC.
Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), passed in 2008 as a counter terrorist measure, has a long history of abuse from the federal government, especially when it comes to surveillance. ACLU has some pretty strong top lines here including that Section 702 allows warrantless surveillance of people inside and outside of the country.
The government has been using this to target Americans (despite the law not being intended for this). There is little to prevent section 702 from targeting critics, activists, religious minorities, or communities of color, and this provision chills freedom of speech and association.
Contact our Congresswoman to demand major reforms to Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), and to withhold her vote from reauthorization without reforms.
