History is written by what we do

Anyone who is connected to Indivisible knows two things – 1) elections have consequences and 2) we can each take action to affect the outcomes of the November elections.
And so, the big question becomes how and what actions are you going to commit to doing over the next six months? Will you commit to writing 100 postcards? Will you join a primary phonebank once a week for a candidate who will fight in a safe blue district? Will you talk to friends about voting for the progressive WA State Supreme court candidates? Or hand out flyers educating people about the anti-trans initiatives that will be on our ballot? Will you knock on doors to make sure a Republican doesn’t represent LD5 here in our backyard?
As we move from May into the summer, we are offering resources for you to figure out how you can make the most impact with the time and resources you have. Make the commitment now so you can wake up the morning after the election in November knowing you have done everything you could have to write a history we can be proud of.

With the narrowest House majority in almost 100 years, winning the House is doable.
Over the years, Indivisible WA8 has turned to trusted organizations to help shape our understanding of where we can take action to make a difference outside of races here in Washington state. One of those organizations is Swing Left. We initially worked with Swing Left when we “captained” a bus they organized to bring Seattle canvassers to CD8 in support of Kim Schrier back in 2018.
Our district is now much “safer” than it was in previous elections which gives us the opportunity to look at where we can make a deeper impact on taking back the House.
Above, you can see an overview of Swing Left’s strategy – Republican seats we must flip, Democrat seats we need to hold, and those seats that could be in our reach if we just do the work. The Swing Left strategy has proven to be solid in the past and is sure to be again.

To get even more granular, our own WIN (Washington Indivisible Network) Elections group offers Get Out The Vote prioritizations on those races, adding in the opportunities to keep/flip statewide races, and offers volunteer opportunities in those states.
Using the matrix, Indivisible WA8 has chosen to prioritize districts in Michigan for our Postcarding Campaign. If you are interested in writing postcards, reach out to us at indivisiblewa8@gmail.com, and we’ll be in touch soon.
We are also hoping to have organized opportunities to phonebank in key races soon. If you are interested in helping determine how and where we will lean into this important work together, email us at indivisiblewa8@gmail.com.
In the meantime, you can choose what race/races you would like to support using the WIN Election workgroups GOTV matrix hosted by Indivisible Vashon. Click on this button to access that matrix:

Washington’s voter registration system is being challenged and the League of Women Voters is asking for our support on their Decline to Sign campaign against adding burdensome requirements to the voter registration rules.
Initiative Measure IP26-500 would require all voters to have an enhanced drivers’ license or provide documentary proof of U.S. citizenship in person. Voters who fail to do so would see their registration put on hold and would not be sent ballots or election materials.
Besides being burdensome to eligible voters and costly for counties to implement, this is a solution looking for a problem because voting by noncitizens is extremely rare. Furthermore, these proposals would disenfranchise a significant number of persons who are legally eligible to cast a ballot.
Backers have until July 2, 2026, to turn in the verified signatures of nearly 309,000 voters. If they succeed, the initiative would be placed on the ballot in November 2026 for a vote of the people.
Pledge to Decline to Sign and spread the word to your circles.

Action Needed: No FLOCK Cameras in Issaquah Sign-On Petition
The issue of Flock cameras in Issaquah has not been settled and concerned citizens continue to urge the City Council to pass a moratorium with strict limitations on how these systems can be safely used in Issaquah.
The City Council will meet on Monday, May 18th, 2026. where we hope they will consider our request to pass a moratorium on new ALPR systems until a city ordinance is passed before voting on the grant proposal in June.
If you live, work, or shop in Issaquah, please take a moment to see the website for more details, read the open letter and add your name to the petition. This is the most effective way to show the Mayor and City Council that our community does not want Flock cameras in Issaquah.
