Never doubt…

ICE Marches On, and So Do We

After a successful No Kings 2 event last Saturday, which saw more than 7,000 people in Issaquah peacefully and non-violently protest this administration and its cruel and heartless policies, ICE stepped up their activity in the area and took a mom dropping off her child at daycare in Issaquah on Thursday.

It’s a sobering reminder that while we exert our rights peacefully, those currently in power do not share our commitment to the law and continue to escalate their war against democracy, America, and its people.

ICE snatching people off the street, the President demolishing the people’s house and using private and corporate funding to do it during the longest government shutdown in U.S. history, all while hurting families who lose the benefits that put food on their tables. During a week like this, it’s tempting to feel hopeless. The work is never-ending, and the battles won seem far more minor than the battles we’re losing.

Still, in times like this, we must remember that freedom is a choice, self-rule is a choice, and the bedrock of our country is people uniting against kings (wannabe, and real) to make the promise of the Constitution a reality.

We are in the fight of our lives, fighting for our country, fighting for its citizens, fighting for our souls, but if we can put our hope in one thing it’s this: Small groups of thoughtful people can, and still do change the world, and we haven’t lost yet.

Here are some you you can take this week to keep fighting the good fight (peacefully).

Community Meeting This Saturday!

Join us this Saturday, November 1st, for our November Community Meeting at the Issaquah Senior Center at 10 A.M.

We’ll celebrate our No Kings 2 event and talk about what’s next.

If the Trump shutdown persists, plan to join us for a visibility action at Front & Gilman directly after the meeting.

Bring your signs related to the shutdown, like Hands Off our Healthcare and Stop the Trump Shutdown.

Register for the visibility action here. https://www.mobilize.us/indivisible/event/858831/

Disappeared In America – Freedom Vigil

Sponsored by Disappeared in America. Sunday, Nov 2nd, 5-6:30 P.M. at Issaquah City Hall

Join us for a Freedom Vigil as we stand in solidarity with immigrant families and demand an end to the detention and deportation of nonviolent, law-abiding community members. We will remember those who have died in ICE custody or during an ICE arrest.

This is not a sign-waving event. Please do not bring signs on outside issues.

Across the country, people are gathering outside ICE facilities, local jails, courthouses, and other centers of power to shine a light on the erosion of due process and the rise of authoritarian overreach. Together, we affirm that justice, compassion, and the rule of law must apply to everyone—regardless of immigration status.
