Momentum is Building, Let’s Keep it Up!

Indivisible WA8 had a busy weekend! Thanks to everyone who came to the monthly community meeting and Stop the Trump Shutdown protest on Saturday! We met to debrief on the hugely successful No Kings 2 and talk about what’s next. We broke up into little groups to discuss how we can keep building momentum during the cold, rainy winter months.
Wow, does our group have some great ideas! If you were unable to make it and have ideas for how we can stay connected and continue building momentum through the winter months, please shoot us an email at indivisiblewa8@gmail.com.

Then, on Sunday, over 80 people gathered in front of Issaquah City Hall as we hosted a Disappeared in America Vigil, to stand in solidarity with our immigrant neighbors and mourn those who have been taken by ICE and/or died in ICE custody. It was a sobering reminder that we are all connected —and why we are in this fight. Everyone deserves a chance at the American dream of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

VOTE and Turn in your ballot by November 4th!
There are many important races on the ballot in this “off-year” election, including a critical State Senate race and your vote is your voice!
Reminder – if you have not turned in your ballot yet, King County recommends that you drop off your ballot at a ballot drop box rather than mailing it in. There have been reports that the Post Office is not postmarking ballots on the day they are received. Make sure your ballot gets in on time!
Ballots can be dropped off at a ballot drop-off box anytime before tomorrow – Tuesday, November 4th, at 8 P.M. You can find a list of King County ballot drop-off boxes here.

Issaquah Food Bank Needs Donations
This time of year, food banks in our area typically see an increase in people seeking help to feed their families. But with the government shutdown and Trump’s refusal to release SNAP funds this month, food banks are hurting and in desperate need of donations and volunteers.
Indivisible WA8 is partnering with the Issaquah Food Bank to provide donations and help address this great need. Please click here to find out what to donate, when, and where.

Protect Immigrant Rights, Build Collective Power
As part of the Solidarity in Action series, this ACLU-led session will help allies show up for immigrant communities facing law enforcement encounters. Participants will learn their rights as bystanders, immigrant rights during these interactions, and practical strategies to act safely and effectively. Together, we’ll strengthen our collective ability to protect one another and build the solidarity our communities need to thrive.
This is movement training for action: you’ll leave ready not only to defend your neighbors in the moment, but also to strengthen the collective resistance that fuels our movements for immigrant justice. Register here to join this online class.

Don’t Stream Fascism: Cancel Spotify
Spotify is running ads recruiting agents for ICE, the federal agency charged with mass deportation and surveillance of immigrant communities. These ads target vulnerable populations, promise signing bonuses, and normalize fear and intimidation in our neighborhoods.
Spotify claims these ads comply with their policy, but the truth is streaming hate is not neutral. It’s a choice.
We refuse to fund it. We refuse to ignore it.
Click here to find out more about Indivisible’s demands for Spotify, and how you can help, including instructions for canceling your membership and alternative music streaming services.
