This is Where Hope Begins

The most recent attacks on free speech affect journalists, comedians, institutions, and all of us. The disdain for our Constitution and our rights and the glee at trying to dismantle them are breathtaking.
To the vast majority of us, a sitting President threatening war against American cities, people, and organizations is unthinkable. But, sadly, the unthinkable has become a daily occurrence, and maintaining balance and finding hope is an enormous challenge.
Indivisibles know our country has gone through some very dark times, and this is one of them.
Indivisibles lean into action. We know that hope is not passive. Taking care of one another is critical. Courage is contagious. Our rights are too precious to squander.
So, we engage. We get creative, and we exercise our rights peacefully. Because that is where hope begins.
Our Rallies & Protest Team leads us in peacefully exercising our First Amendment rights to free speech and to assemble peaceably.
Our recent candlelight vigil for day laborers who are racially targeted by our government was powerful. Thank you to everyone who came out in solidarity.

This week, here are some ways you can take action
Our weekly Banners Over Issaquah Overpass Action is growing, with a regularly updated banner on full display. Here are details & dates – register for the weeks that you can come out!
A new sign-waving event launches today, Monday September 22nd! Join Sammamish Stands Up from 5:00 – 6:00 pm at NE 228th St and NE 8th St in Sammamish every Monday. No sign-up or link, just bring a sign, or just bring yourself and a friend or two!
Our Senators Need to Hear from YOU

The budget fight is coming to a head. Our Constitution grants Congress the power of the purse, not the Executive. Call Senators Murray and Cantwell. Urge them to stand strong and publicly commit to withholding support for any Republican bill that cuts healthcare or funds Trump’s chaos again. Democrats cannot enable Republican abuse of our tax dollars or the bipartisan budget process. Share that message, and follow the link for more: Call our Senators now and ask them to put meaningful checks on Trump!
Sen. Patty Murray: DC 202-224-2621 | Seattle 206-553-5545
Sen. Maria Cantwell: DC 202-224-3441 | Seattle 206-220-6400

Reinstate Jimmy Kimmel
We’re fighting back with our voices and our wallets — because no wannabe king can match the power we wield when millions of us take action together. We need to pressure ABC/Disney to reinstate Jimmy Kimmel’s show, cease their political collusion with Trump and his FCC lapdogs, and commit to defending free speech. Here’s how: https://indivisible.org/government-censorship

No Kings 2 – In America We Say No Kings!
On October 18, millions of us are rising again to show the world: America has no kings, and the power belongs to the people. We thought our No Kings protest in June would be good. We didn’t know we would break records here in Issaquah and around the world. Join us in Issaquah from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm to make our No Kings 2 event even bigger. Updates for our event will be sent out to those who register at the link. https://www.mobilize.us/nokings/event/840069/

Join Postcards 4 WA
Postcards4WA is a volunteer postcarding operation that sends postcards for state and local progressive candidates in close races while complying with our state’s PDC regulations.
This year, they need writers for several tight WA races, including Victoria Hunt.
In addition to writers, they accept monetary donations for stamps. Please note this organization is independent of Indivisible: To meet PDC regulations, you have to volunteer for Postcards 4 WA separately from Indivisible so they can collect your information as an “in-kind” donor.
