New Year, New Horrors. Same Commitment to Peace.

It was another heavy week in America.

ICE agents in Minneapolis murdered a woman, Renee Nicole Good, who was peacefully protesting ICE activity in her area.

Minneapolis responded with protests, and Democratic Governor Tim Walz put the National Guard on alert to prevent further escalation.

The Trump regime immediately defended the agent, saying he “feared for his life.” Video evidence that claim; it showed the agent casually circling Renee’s car several times while filming on his cell phone before fatally shooting Renheree three times.

A day later in Portland, two individuals were shot while sitting in their car outside a hospital.

Indivisible groups across the country — including WA-8 — organized more than 1000 protests and vigils demanding ICE Out For Good and honoring those harmed by ICE violence.

Meanwhile, Spotify and Avelo Airlines have cut their ties with ICE, proving once again that peaceful and organized citizen actions WORK.

Thank you to the hundreds of people who showed up to our monthly meeting, protests, and vigil this past weekend. This work can feel isolating when we go it alone, and empowering when we show up together. Here are some ways you can show up this week.

Indivisible WA8 Turns 9!

On Saturday, we held our first community meeting of 2026 and celebrated Indivisible WA8’s 9th Birthday.

There were delicious mini cupcakes and a banner to commemorate as we discussed the milestones and our accomplishments over the years.

We also talked about the upcoming legislative session, which begins today. Check out the slides below for more information on this year’s 60-day session and ways to get involved. We also touched on ICE activity in our area, community services opportunities, and more.

Sign-On to demand that Kim Schrier take action on Immigration NOW.

IndWA8 began meeting monthly with Kim Schrier’s staff in 2025, encouraging her, among other things, to take a stand on immigration policy. While these meetings have been polite, and Kim’s staff has repeatedly assured us that Kim takes immigration seriously, she continues to side with Republicans and avoid publicly supporting more humane immigration policies. She has ignored our pleas to visit the Northwest Detention Center and help local residents detained there.

With the death of Nicole Good, we are once again asking Kim Schrier to start speaking out more vocally and show up for her constituents who have been harmed by ICE and its policies.

If you live in CD8 and are represented by Kim, please sign on to our letter, which will be delivered in person on Friday, January 16th. Forward it to your friends, too!

Read and sign the letter.
