We have stuff to do!

If the news feels like it’s grinding you down, it’s always good to remember that we are not alone, we have power and our actions make a difference.
Indivisible is a nationwide movement of everyday people working to stop the rise of authoritarianism in our country and build a democracy that works for all of us. We know that democracy is too important to leave up to the politicians. It requires all of us to get on the field.
With over 2500 members, Indivisible Washington’s 8th District takes pride in showing up – rain or shine, in street clothes and inflatable costumes, with our American flags, our Pride flags, our signs, and our conviction. We speak to our neighbors. We call our elected officials. We advocate and educate on issues at the local, state, and national level. We help friends and family make a plan to vote. We get out the vote and we vote. We show up for our neighbors and our communities. We get stuff done and we do it in community. We are not alone. We are Indivisible.
So, here’s some stuff to get done this week!

Tell Congress to Say No to Trump’s Dangerous Appointment
Trump just appointed his political attack dog, Bill Pulte, as acting Director of National Intelligence. Pulte has absolutely no experience in national intelligence, and was clearly offered the job based on his willingness to go after Trump’s political adversaries. Pulte is currently under investigation over whether he misused his authority in a federal agency to go after political enemies.
As acting Director of National Intelligence, he now has the power to attack our democracy by weaponizing surveillance, pushing the spying agencies he oversees to conduct unlawful spying or otherwise allowing it, providing politically motivated surveillance directly to Trump, and even declassifying or leaking information acquired without a warrant about those who would challenge the administration.
Congress has very little authority when it comes to blocking an acting director, but it does have massive amounts of leverage right now.
Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) is an intelligence-gathering law that is set to expire on June 12. The Trump regime is obsessed with getting it reauthorized. Congress can — and should — refuse to reauthorize the law until Pulte is removed from his position (and even then, only pass the law with guardrails to protect Americans from warrantless surveillance by this authoritarian regime).
Tell your Members of Congress you expect them to use all their leverage — including blocking FISA reauthorization — to remove Pulte.
Reach out to Rep. Schrier and our Senators to tell them to Remove Trump’s unqualified and dangerous Intel Director.

Join Indivisible Eastside in Bellevue and Kirkland on bridges and overpasses before and after specific soccer matches between June 15th – July 6th. These dates/times are coordinated with other bridge bannering throughout the Seattle area to make a huge impact.
Indivisible Eastside will provide the banners; participants may bring their own signs. Volunteers can select one or two one-hour shifts.
